Converters
Converters are used to produce liquid steel and are fed with “pig iron” from blast furnaces and scrap. Heating is produced by blowing oxygen into the furnace, which ignites the carbon dissolved in the steel.
The conditions in the converters are vicious and high refractoriness working linings are required to protect the side walls of the vessel as well as the slag zone. Our GRECMAGN® GUN series of products have lasted for up to 9 heats in converters of 150mt capacity.
GRECMAGN GUN P
GRECMAGN® GUN P series of products are magnesia based gunning mixes for hot repairs of the Converter’s slag zone and side walls. The products are chemically bonded with two main types of bonding systems, phosphate, and sulphate.
