New photovoltaic plant in Yerakini by Grecian Magnesite

Grecian Magnesite begins construction of a new photovoltaic plant in Greece

Athens, Greece -- May 19, 2023 -- Following the successful installation of a roof-type solar energy system in our Turkish subsidiary Akdeniz Mineral Kaynaklari A.Ş., we continue to make progress in the development of our renewable projects with the construction of a new ground-mounted photovoltaic plant in Yerakini, Chalkidiki, Northern Greece.

The 1.000kWp PV facility will be equipped with more than 1.800 bifacial panels which, by having two light-sensitive surfaces, allow for greater production without increasing the number of panels. In this way, it is expected to generate 1.500.000 kWh of clean energy per year, covering 100% the needs of the refractory masses & specialty DBM plant and 6% of the overall Yerakini – Polygyros mining complex.

The project, which involves an investment of more than € 0,65 million, is expected to come into operation during the third quarter of 2023, following the construction, installation, and grid integration.

One more "link" to the energy shift chain to be followed by more sustainability projects in Greece and Turkey!
