NK3P

NK3P │ The ideal waterproofing catalyst for Gypsum Panels

NK3P is a high purity, moderately reactive calcined magnesium oxide, produced under closely controlled conditions to give a finely divided white powder, with controlled/uniform reactivity and accurate grain size.

Main Uses & Advantages

Silicone additives are typically used in gypsum panel formulations to impart waterproofing. NK3P can be used as catalyst to enhance and accelerate the curing of silicon and increase its water-repellent performance.

NK3P powder has found special application when a siloxane such as polymethyl-hydrogensiloxane (H-Siloxane), is used in the formulation. Addition of NK3P leads to a significant reduction in the panel’s water take-up.

Example of use: Addition of 0,3% NK3P and 0,3% H-Siloxane on gypsum weight leads to a water-take up of 7% or less. *

Performance increase may also enable reduction of silicon loadings and saving of material costs.

* Refers to a 2-hour water immersion test of 2×10 cm disk specimens following a curing period of 7 days (1 day @ 40oC & 6 days @ 20oC/60% humidity).

Packaging & Storage

NK3P is available in powder form & packed: In big bags, with or without bottom spout. In 25kg paper bags on pallets, covered with shrink film.

NK3P has a shelf life of 12 months provided that the product is stored in a clean dry storage area under proper conditions. Magnesium oxide absorbs moisture from the air and forms lumps. Always re-seal partly used bags.
