Electric Arc Furnace MgO gunning mixes

CCMF

CCMF

CCMF +14mm is a white, granular, odorless, low-cost magnesium oxide product, developed for use as slag conditioner in Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF).

Main Uses & Advantages

CCMF +14mm contained silica is trapped into the crystals of the MgO and cannot attack the brick lining of the furnace. At the same time, the relatively high MgO content saturates the slag in MgO, giving the expected beneficial results, such as:

  • Faster smelting time.
  • Decrease of electrical energy consumption.
  • Improved dephosphorization and desulfurization.
  • Longer refractory life.

Packaging & Storage

CCMF +14mm is available: in bulk. in 1.500kg big bags with or without wooden pallets, according to customer’s requirements.

The product has a shelf life of 12 months, provided that is stored in a clean, dry storage area under, proper conditions.

Recommended Applications
Slag conditioning using magnesium oxide

Slag Conditioning

MgO-saturated slag is a prerequisite in both EAF and BOF steelmaking. MgO saturation limit, depends mainly on FeO content, basicity, and temperature, and varies from 8% to 12%, depending on each steel plant’s operational parameters.
